Rattlesnake at Flatwoods.
4-2-2006 - Tampa, Florida - Flatwoods park.
While I was on a bike ride, an eastern diamondback rattlesnake crossed my path. The snake was about 3 feet long.
Fortunately, I had a video camera with me. I shot the video on a Canon ZR-20 miniDV camcorder and edited in Apple's iMovie. I removed the natural sound which was pretty much wind noise and my wife, Cindy, telling me to keep away from the snake. I was never closer than around 30 feet. I added some "laptop generated" static (from the Laptop Hell reaktor ensemble) to keep in theme with this site.
WARNING: Rattlesnakes are poisonous and they can be deadly! If you see one, keep a safe distance between you and the snake. Don't mess with it, play with it, or try to kill it!
The truth is, you shouldn't mess with any snake. Although most are harmless, you don't want to risk your life on it, right? And, even though they are feared, snakes are essential to the environment, so please don't kill them.
